Ting Li, Artist, Concert Pianist, Music Director of the Silicon Beach Chamber Orchestra is a gifted piano coach offering masterclasses around the country: The University of Alabama, The University of Southern Mississippi, The University of Florida and California, her new home since 2017, after spending many years at The Cleveland Institute of Music, where she completed her Graduate Studies and performed with many members of the amazing Cleveland Orchestra.
In addition to piano, Ting has been fascinated by Architecture since early childhood. As a teenager she had the choice of studying music or architecture. She chose Piano and Opera Voice. Yet, her passion for architecture never dimmed.
Ting recently started her studies in Architecture at the Rochester Institute of Technology, pursuing her Professional MArch Degree with a scholarship, and is expected to be a licensed Member of the American Institute of Architect in 2023 for both California and New York.
“Architecture is frozen music or perhaps music is liquid architecture; either way I am fascinated and mesmerized by both. I have always loved painting and drawing for relaxation; and now I get to sketch, design, build sustainable creative spaces for creatives and will build futuristic sustainable performing arts buildings with proper acoustics. Architecture and music have much in common,” says Ting.
Ting started to play the piano at age of 4 and has not stopped since. Ting has won many gold and silver awards in many State and National piano competitions in China and abroad.
Ting arrived in the USA in 2009 following a scholarship to Study in the United States under Dr. Laura Spitzer and she was offered the prestigious Postgraduate Teaching Fellow position for Piano and Ear Training at the Music School, New Mexico State University. 2012, Ting got accepted by Cleveland Institute of Music.
At a young age, Ting chose to combine her piano studies with vocal training which culminated in graduating from the prestigious National Chinese Sichuan Conservatory of Music with degrees in both piano and vocal performance, distinguishing herself from other Concert Pianists.
Ting’s love of collaborating with talented artists, combined with years of study with legend coaches Weidao Qian (Bel Canto Composer), Jin Du (Piano), Lydia Qiu (Vocal Coach, University of Michigan), Anita Pontremoli (Collaborative Piano Chamber Music Coach, Cleveland Institute of Music) resulted in collaborating with many great musicians in large and small concerts.
